.». . michael yeun’s life had never been picture perfect. as far back as he could remember, were late nights spent with his back pressed to his bedroom door as his parents screamed at each other. by the time he was seven, they were divorced. rather uncivilly, as well. aside from passing their child around to one another, fighting for him, pulling him back and forth, they didn’t speak.

.». . after their divorce, mickey remembers watching his father fall apart. watching him drop to his knees on their porch, cursing and crying when he thought the boy was asleep. remembers how his drinking that had contributed so heavily to the divorce only got worse and worse. he remembers his mother vowing to never forget the pain it had all caused her. and thus, mickey never really believed in love. how could he? he’d never seen it. never experienced a happy, loving home with parents who adored each other. because of his parents, he promised he’d never bother with love, something that simply didn’t exist.

.». . growing up with divorced parents often times felt like a battle. he was merely a playing chip in a game the adults were trying so desperately to win. his parents loved him, sure, but it didn’t often seem like it while they were using him against each other or as some sort of charity ward. sometimes it felt as though they’d tear him in two, and even then they’d keep pushing and pulling. eventually, his mother won full custody due to his father’s drinking problem. slowly but surely, mickey lost his dad. now a days, he hasn’t spoken to the man in years.

.». . despite the hardships his parents put him through, his life outside of home was pretty good. he was always a charismatic and charming boy, well liked by his peers. he wasn’t a genius, but he was smart enough to get by in his classes. his mother enrolled him in every different sport she could think of at one point or another, her therapist had said it was good for him to be as social as possible and try new things, but none of them stuck. not until hockey. it wasn’t a sport his mother knew much about, really, and was one of the last he signed up for. but mickey was the happiest he ever was in any sport when he was out on that rink. and so he played, for years and years he played. he even met his best friend through the game. it was something he’d always cherish.

.». . mickey’s true love, though, wasn’t ice hockey. as much as the boy adored playing, and even if he wouldn’t ever fully give it up, he took to music more. before his parents had even gotten divorced, his father had taught him how to play guitar. as he got older, he began to write songs and even produce music. composing his own songs on his little laptop. perhaps his love for music was natural, ingrained into his dna, or maybe it stemmed from how it connected him to his father that became someone he only saw on birthdays and holidays if he was lucky, and then someone he never saw at all, but either way, it was mickey’s passion.

.». . iin high school, he played and sang in a punk band with his closest friends. hockey was still prominent in his life, but nothing could bring him the joy being on a stage, performing his & his friends’ songs for audiences did. he knew even back then that it was something he wanted to do for the rest of his life. his mother wanted him to be happy, even if she wasn’t too keen on the idea of her son following in his father’s footsteps and working in the music industry. mickey swore to her he would never turn into his dad though, even if his love for music connected him to his old man. he swore it to himself, too. even to this day, mickey has only drank a hand full of times. the fear of letting alcohol destroy him like it did his father, and their relationship, was too great.

.». . after high school, mickey’s life only seemed to continue to be propitious. everything seemed to be going well in his life, from hockey to music. as he started college, a music theory and composition major, songs he wrote even began to be purchased by big time, famous singers. for mickey though, happiness seemed so alien, he was constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. constantly waiting for something to come and tear down all he had built up. for a while, mickey lived in fear of that. lived expecting the worst at every turn.

.». . now a days, he’s doing well, all things considered. in spite of his messy past, he’s on the right track to have a life working in music and surrounded by friends. he’s currently interning at soloop with other hopefuls, and living at camp devers. even now, he wakes up most days waiting for it all to disappear, and he struggles with his emotions like he always has. but he’s doing his best, and just hoping, maybe, it’ll be good enough.

.». . his best friend that he met through hockey, that was later in his high school band with him. through it all they've been close, and still are. .. emery jung

.». . friends with benefits, if you could even call them that. they're hardly friends, more heavy on the benefits. pretty much just someone mickey hooks up with from time to time.

.». . his tutor. could be in any non music or literature related subject. he isn't stupid, but he's not winning any awards for his academics either. this person just helps him study and not totally flunk whatever gen ed class they're tutoring him in. .. isaac moon

.». . someone who drags him to parties. it isn't as though mickey hates to party, but being the only sober guy amongst a bunch of drunks isn't usually his idea of a good time. this person thinks it should be. .. james yang

.». . enemies, if you will. for whatever reason, these two don't like each other. mickey isn't rude, most of the time, but he's not the sweetest person ever either. these two butt heads more often than not and just can't seem to get along.

.». . someone that likes mickey ! he isn't big on love, or crushes, so this would be heavily unrequited, and mickey may not even know how they feel, but it could be some good angst.

.». . honestly anything else you can think of ! cousins, partners in crime, someone he writes music with.... i'm down for just about anything with mickey !
